Importing SVGT into Ikivo Animator

Can I open any SVG file in Ikivo Animator?
Yes, you can, but any content that is not SVG Tiny 1.1 or 1.1+ (with additional gradient and opacity properties) compliant will be removed.
Typically, what features in SVG are not supported in SVGT?
Gradients, filter effects, and transparency (opacity).

SVG Filter Effects are not supported in SVG Tiny 1.1. Non-SVG filter effects are rendered and converted to bitmaps in SVG created by Adobe Illustrator® CS. If these bitmaps are embedded in the SVG file, they will be preserved in Ikivo Animator.
What attributes can be animated in Ikivo Animator?
The attributes that can be animated are: scale, position, rotation, fill color, fill opacity, stroke color, stroke opacity, and visibility.
What happens to animation attributes that are not supported by Ikivo Animator when I open an SVG file?
Unsupported animation attributes are supported in the Stage view. They are also supported when pro viewing the file. However if you try to edit an element containing an unsupported animation attribute, you will be queried to remove this attribute before you are allowed to edit the element.
Does Ikivo Animator remove any SVG Tiny compliant attributes?
Yes. In order to prevent ambiguities in the user interface, overlapping animations on the same attribute and element are not allowed.
Can Ikivo Animator open gzip compressed SVG files?
Yes.

Fonts and Text Presentation

Why can't I see text objects when I preview my animation in Ikivo Animator?
Some devices do not have support for text. This is reflected in the device profiles in Ikivo Animator's Preview.
Why do text objects look different when I view my animation on a phone?
The fonts used in some phones may be different from the font used in Ikivo Animator. To make sure that they look the same, either convert the text to outline paths before including them in an animation, or use an SVG font that is embedded in the SVG file.

Previewing

Is the anti-aliasing and font support correct in the Preview?
Yes, to our knowledge they are correct at the time of this release. However, newer versions of the same model phone may contain updated SVG support.

Integration with other tools

How does one set the preferred static SVG editor to Adobe Illustrator® CS?
When editing static SVG files you can select what editor to use. If Adobe Illustrator® 10 or higher is installed on the computer you can select it as the preferred editor.
How is Ikivo Animator launched from within Adobe GoLive® CS in order to edit an SVG animation?
When Ikivo Animator is installed on a computer with Adobe GoLive® CS, double-clicking any SVG content in GoLive's Layout view will open the file for editing in Animator.
Can I use other non-Adobe tools?
Yes, as long as the application is a valid SVG editor (as most text editors are). To change the preferred editor go to File->Preferences and in the drop-down list replace one of the alternatives with the path to the .EXE file you want to use.
Will Adobe Illustrator® CS 2 remove all of the animations I create in Animator?
No. With the release of Adobe Illustrator® CS 2, there is more support for round-tripping. For the most part, animations now created in Ikivo Animator are preserved in Illustrator CS2.

Saving

What formats can be saved?

Miscellaneous

Does Ikivo Animator support editing of user events?
No, but through the integration with Adobe GoLive® CS it is easy to add user events to an animation. For more information, see the "Tips and Tricks" section of the online help.
How do I send my animation to a phone?
There is no single standard mechanism existing today that allows you to send animations to mobile phones. Therefore, there is no specific mechanism provided within Ikivo Animator to do so. However, many phones support cable, IR or bluetooth. Refer to the manual that came with your phone to find out what mechanism is appropriate.
Is there a Mac version available of Ikivo Animator?
Yes! With the release of Ikivo Animator 1.1, Mac users can now create mobile SVG animations just as Windows users have been.
What are the system requirements for running Ikivo Animator?
Operating System: Apple Macintosh OSX and Microsoft Windows 2000 - XP
Memory: 128MB RAM
Screen resolution: Minimum 1024*768 pixels
Free disk space: 15 MB
